Apartment (CaSSA) Housing

"This may not seem like a lot to everyone, but this apartment is everything to me," says a 21-year-old CaSSA resident. After successfully completing their Belfort House action plans, youth may choose to live in one of ten studio or one-bedroom apartments with the goal of transitioning to complete independence. To qualify for CaSSA, youth must graduate from Belfort House or be in Shoulder-to-Shoulder, TLP’s after-care program. Typically, CaSSA youth are ages 19 to 23.

Youth choose the neighborhood where they want to live. Teen Living Programs provides two-year rent and grocery subsidies so participants can bolster their savings, making the move to independent living more successful.

Youth save an increasing amount during the 24-month program. By the time they graduate from the program, they may have several thousand dollars in savings.

CaSSA residents develop new individual action plans, which include educational and vocational goals, as well as personal development and family relationship components. After program completion, youth are independent, with a furnished apartment, a toolbox of life skills, an address book filled with contacts and resources, and countless reasons to celebrate!
