Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Teen Living Programs! Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our work, from helping with fundraising events to preparing meals, the time you give makes a real difference in the lives of the young people we serve. At TLP we want to ensure that the volunteer experience works for you as well for the agency.
Anyone interested in volunteering needs to first complete the volunteer application and submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will also need to attend one of our volunteer orientations which are held every other month. For more information visit the sign up page.
All TLP volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and commit to our volunteer ethics as well as our policies and procedures. Anyone volunteering at our program site is also required to complete a background check and tuberculosis test.
Some of the Volunteer Opportunities available at TLP include:
Volunteer on-site and work directly with the young people by participating in activities like holding regular workshops or classes (such as art, cooking, technology, etc.), tutoring, participating in food preparation with the youth, sharing a professional skill, supporting recreational activities, working our crisis telephone line, and more.
Join the Auxiliary Board and engage with other young professionals to support the agency through fundraising, planning recreational activities for TLP youth (like canoe trips and Bulls games) and hosting events throughout the year including the annual TLP on Tap. The Auxiliary Board typically meets once a month at the TLP administrative offices downtown.
Work on an Event Committee. TLP hosts many fundraising events throughout the year—primarily the annual Dream a Bigger Dream Gala and the Chairman’s Golf Outing. The Gala and Golf committees support TLP Staff and Board in the planning and execution of events from the procurement of sponsors and auction items, to providing support around raffle ticket sales, collateral materials, décor, researching vendors, and more.
Support the Agency by assisting with tasks at TLP’s Administrative Office. Administrative volunteers may stuff envelopes for event invitations or agency mailings, help manage addresses in our database, answer phones, and help with filing.
Become a Virtual Volunteer and use your online influence and networks to advocate for and generate awareness of Teen Living Programs, the only organization in Chicago exclusively dedicated to serving youth who are homeless.
