BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize

hongkong prize is a non-governmental merit-based award that aims to recognize and promote outstanding scientific and technological innovation and scientific research work that has made significant contributions in Hong Kong. The prize is organized by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited.

The award is open to fields of Hong Kong’s scientific and technological innovation, including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, FinTech, as well as other disciplines that have a direct impact on the economic development of Hong Kong. The awardees must support the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and hold high social morality and professional ethics.

A group of students at Hong Kong Baptist University won the Esri China (Hong Kong) Prize in Spatial History for their project, “From Defense to Taxation: Qing Dynasty’s Military and Custom Facilities in Hong Kong.” Their study was based on 19th-century maps and was accompanied by an exhibit on these maps at StoryMap Gallery.

In addition to the cash prize, the winner will be invited to participate in a series of activities at a special gala event. The organisers will also provide travel and accommodation expenses to the winner and his or her team.

For each of the five competition categories, a selection committee consisting of professional adjudicators and a panel of Executive Committee members of the Hong Kong Film Awards will conduct a nominations process to select the nominees for the award. The panel of judges will vote to determine the winners of each category.

The judging panel consists of members from the film industry, including actors, directors, producers, editors and distributors. The judging panel will meet at least once a month to review the submissions.

In order to ensure that the award is awarded to the most deserving candidates, a strict evaluation of each nomination is carried out. All nominators and finalists must submit a complete submission form, which includes information on their research, work and achievements. The submissions must be submitted by January 15 of each year.

During the nomination period, a review committee will examine each application carefully to assess whether the project meets the criteria set out in the prize’s Charter. The review committee will then make a recommendation to the jury for the award.

As an independent and impartial review body, the BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE will conduct its operations professionally, objectively and fairly. No organization or individual shall exert undue influence on the review process.

The BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION PRIZE is a non-governmental merit-based competition, which encourages scientific and technological innovation to advance the economic prosperity of Hong Kong. The awardees will receive a medal and a certificate, and be invited to participate in a number of events at the Hong Kong Film Festival.
