The Domino Effect

Domino is a game that involves stacking dominoes on end in long lines. When one is tipped over, it causes the rest of the line to fall over. This is the basis for the common phrase “the domino effect.”

Some people use dominoes to make art with them. They can be stacked in straight lines, in curved lines, or in grids that form pictures when they fall. They can also be arranged in 3D structures like towers and pyramids. Some people even use them to play games that involve moving them around or blocking them from getting to certain areas.

The domino effect is more powerful than we realize. A 1983 study by University of British Columbia physicist Lorne Whitehead demonstrated that dominoes can actually knock over things about one-and-a-half times their size! In the video below, you can see him set up 13 dominoes and watch them all come down.

Domino, also known as Dominoes or domino tiles, are black and white rectangular pieces that form a set of 28. They have several nicknames, including bones, cards, tiles, stones, spinners, and tickets. Dominoes are often used for games that require counting or adding and subtracting. They are most popular in Western countries, but they were introduced in China in the 12th or 13th century.

The Domino effect is a term that describes a chain reaction in which one event triggers a series of other events that have much greater—and sometimes catastrophic—consequences. This phenomenon can be seen in nature, as in the collapse of a giant tree after its roots are cut or in a school classroom where one student’s behavior impacts others. The impact can be positive or negative. It can even be insignificant or unintended.

During an encounter with the mutant mercenary Gryaznova, Domino’s psionic powers caused the mutant to accidentally destroy an asteroid that was destroying Earth. She later joined X-Corporation and was sent to Hong Kong where she infiltrated Project Armageddon and hindered John Sublime’s Third Species mutant organ harvesting movement. Afterward, she was contacted by mutant Jesse Aaronson who asked for her help finding his brother. Domino’s technology disrupting abilities allowed her to locate him.

Domino teamed up with Cable to train the new X-Force when they overlapped with Reality-295 during the Age of Apocalypse. She helped to restructure the team before being captured by Tolliver (who was secretly her son Tyler) and his agent Copycat (Vanessa Carlysle). After helping re-form X-Force, she was called on by Cable to assist in sabotage missions against Rumekistan and the island paradise Providence. She also teamed up with her Six Pack teammates Grizzly and Hammer to sabotage Rumekistan’s defenses against a hostile takeover attempt by the Office of National Emergency (ONE). She later discovered that Grizzly was in love with her, but he ultimately renounced his feelings for her and she accepted his proposal of marriage. The pair later reunited to investigate the murders of mutants in Rumekistan.
